Hiking and backpacking in Glacier National Park has been on my bucket list since I moved to Wyoming. It’s just far enough away though, that it was difficult to make the time to make it worth the trip. So I just bit my lip, took 10 days off, and made it the trip of a lifetime!
Sadly, dogs are verboten in most national parks, so Meg couldn’t come along. She’s still giving me the cold shoulder on that one. So it was just me myself and I out in the wilderness. I hiked a total of 96.5 miles, climbed 3,654 vertical feet, and spent 5 nights in the backcountry.
As a treat, I booked myself a room at the Many Glaciers lodge for my last two nights in the park. I had meant to use it as a base camp for a few other hikes, but my legs were pretty much shot at that point, so I spent the days lounging around the lodge, reading, and enjoying the company of visitors from around the world. There may have been some drinking involved too.
